Read-Along Books for Kids featuring Hubert the Hermit Crab

Apricot Banks Books Read Themselves While Kids Read-Along

“Turn the page when Tinkerbell rings her little bell.”

When you were a kid, did you love reading books with a recording? As a kid, I loved read-along books on tape. You could hold them in your hand and look at the pictures as they read to you. I enjoyed my Disney books on tape so many times that I will never forget: “Turn the page when Tinkerbell rings her little bell.”

Apricot Banks has a YouTube Channel!

To help kids learn to read and love to read, I’m posting video recordings for the current generation. The text appears on one side of the screen (with colour pictures) as I read aloud. It’s a lot like reading to my class in the library. Of course, it will never replace having a parent or grandparent read to kids, but they love hearing the same story over and over (if they are anything like my son). This way, you can meet the insatiable need for repetition in a fun new way. The kids get their story and practice reading while you get a break. Everybody wins.

What Read Along Chapters Can I Get?

All the chapters in Marina Royale will be posted to YouTube. Start with Chapter One, right here.

Chapter One: Soccer Ball Shell

Meet Hubert, a little hermit crab who wants to be a superspy! In this first chapter, Hubert wants to play cards but gets excluded by an eight-legged bully. When he catches Olga Octopus cheating, she plays him a nasty trick that puts him in danger.

Most of the book is posted in read-along book format. A new chapter goes live every Sunday until the book is complete. Subscribe to Apricot Banks on YouTube and click on the alert bell so you won’t miss a chapter.

Watch the video, read the book, turn the page. No Tinkerbell required.
